hawkei vs humvee

Hawkei vs Humvee? One’s a modern Aussie-built light protected machine, the other is a Cold War icon that’s done more tours than a rock band past its prime.

The Hawkei focuses on mine/IED survivability, modular armour and integrated comms; the Humvee began life as a utility truck and only later tried wearing armour like a tux two sizes too small.

Here’s how they stack up without starting a bar fight:

• Hawkei – Pros: Contemporary protection and blast mitigation, C-130 transportable, integrated digital systems and power management.
• Hawkei – Cons: Newer and pricier, fewer surplus/aftermarket bits, not fielded in Humvee-like volumes.
• Humvee – Pros: Huge parts availability, countless variants, comparatively cheap surplus, proven in every climate short of Mars.
• Humvee – Cons: Early models offer minimal protection, add-on armour dents payload and comfort, ergonomics and electrics can be “character building.”

No winners declared—just pick whether you want modern protection and polish, or old-school utility with a spares catalogue thicker than a phone book.
