high beam rules qld Page 776

Queensland’s high‑beam rules are simple enough to fit on a bumper sticker.

You may use high beam at night, but you must dip to low beam when within 200 metres of an oncoming vehicle or a vehicle travelling ahead in the same direction.

A brief flash to warn of hazards is allowed, but don’t dazzle like a lighthouse in a share house.

Fog lights are for fog, rain or dust—using them in clear conditions can get you pinged.

When visibility is good and traffic’s about, low beam is the polite choice; check the Queensland road rules for the latest fine print.
