The 2023 HiLux Rogue is Toyota’s ute in gym gear: wider track, taller stance, and rear disc brakes so it finally stops as well as it talks.
The track grows by about 140 mm and ride height by 20 mm, bringing calmer cornering and less jiggle on corrugations, while the 2.8‑litre turbo‑diesel stays at a stout 150 kW/500 Nm through a 6‑speed auto.
Tow rating remains 3,500 kg braked, and you’ll see roughly high‑8s to low‑10s L/100 km depending on load and lead foot.
Unladen it’s still a bit fidgety, but on-road stability is noticeably better and the extra clearance helps off the blacktop.
Inside it’s tough and tidy, though the infotainment and cabin bling feel a generation behind the swankier crowd.
Pricey? Yes—but if you want a HiLux that actually handles bumps with composure, the Rogue finally walks the talk.
