hilux v6 conversion cost Page 259

Thinking of a Hilux V6 conversion? In Australia, a used donor V6 with loom, ECU, mounts, exhaust and a proper install typically lands around $10,000–$20,000 drive‑in/drive‑out, while a DIY with second‑hand bits can be $5,000–$12,000 if you’re handy and lucky. Opt for a new or reconditioned/“crate” setup and fresh ancillaries and you’re more in the $18,000–$35,000+ territory, depending on gearbox adapters and how fancy you get. Don’t forget engineering certification and inspection in Australia ($800–$2,500), plus cooling, fuel, exhaust, clutch/auto, and diff/brake upgrades that add real money quickly. Prices vary by donor (Toyota 1GR‑FE, etc.), condition, and workshop rates, but any bargain you find will be offset by time and fabrication. It’ll pull like a schoolyard tug‑of‑war, but your bank account might need a sit‑down first.
