holden captiva timing belt replacement cost Page 2

Thinking of a timing belt on a Holden Captiva? If your Captiva actually has a timing belt (diesels typically do; many petrols use a chain), budget about $900–$1,800 AUD at a reputable workshop, including a belt kit, tensioners and a water pump.

Hard-worked diesels or seized hardware can nudge that to $2,000+, while a bare-minimum belt-only job might scrape in under $800—not recommended unless you love living dangerously.

Intervals vary by engine—think 90,000–150,000 km or 6–10 years—so check the logbook or a VIN-specific schedule rather than your cousin’s Facebook wisdom.

Call a couple of independents and a dealer for quotes; ask for OEM-quality parts, fresh coolant, and itemised labour, then pick the one that sounds confident rather than vaguely apologetic.
