In 2009 the Toll Holden Racing Team ran the VE Commodore with Garth Tander and Will Davison at the helm.

They were fast, feisty, and — much to Ford fans’ annoyance — took the Bathurst 1000 crown.

Across the season they traded blows with Triple Eight, banking wins and podiums like it was a loyalty program gone wild.

Davison emerged as a genuine title threat while Tander did what Tander does: win races and terrify apexes.

If you remember red cars up front and a sea of lion flags, you’re remembering 2009 correctly.
