holden service cost Page 31

Short answer: servicing a Holden in Australia isn’t daylight robbery, but it’s not a sausage sizzle either. Expect a minor/annual service to land around $250–$450 for small models (Barina/Astra) and $300–$550 for Commodore sixes; V8s can nudge $400–$700. Major services (60k/120k style) typically run $600–$1,200, especially if spark plugs, fluids and filters stack up.

Known wallet-zingers include timing belt kits on older fours ($800–$1,200 with water pump), auto trans services ($250–$450), and pad/rotor jobs per axle ($350–$700). Since Holden bowed out, dealer-branded networks still offer ‘Holden Certified Service’, but good independents often undercut by 10–20% and won’t upsell you a new planet. Prices swing with engine, condition and postcode, so get an itemised quote and check the logbook rather than your neighbour’s pub maths.
