The 2023 Honda HR-V’s interior goes for calm and clever rather than nightclub-on-wheels. Up front you get a tidy dash with proper knobs for climate and storage that actually fits Aussie-sized drink bottles. The party trick remains the Magic Seats in the second row—flip, fold and tumble to swallow bikes, flat-packs and the odd IKEA regret. In Australia it’s a four-seater, so the back bench is for two humans only, but they’ll be comfy with decent legroom. Materials feel a step up for the class, with cloth on the base and leatherette trim on higher grades, and build quality is satisfyingly tight. The infotainment is straightforward, supports smartphone mirroring, and the cabin stays pleasantly quiet at highway speeds.
