how do phone detection cameras work

Phone detection cameras, those nosy little devices, work by using a mix of radar, lidar, and sometimes even the humble good old camera to spot if you're fiddling with your phone while driving. They scan the vehicle cabin, looking for movement patterns and shapes that resemble a phone in use. When they detect such behaviour, they snap a photo or video as evidence, which can lead to a nice little fine in the mail.

These gadgets often employ AI algorithms trained to distinguish between phone use and harmless hand movements, making them surprisingly effective—though not infallible. So, if you're thinking of sneaking a cheeky scroll, remember: Big Brother is watching, and he's got a camera.
