how do scammers use payid Page 834

Scammers treat PayID like a shiny new fishing rod: faster bites, same old tricks.

They lean on fake confirmations, bogus upgrade fees, and pressure to "refund" money that never arrived.

• Fake PayID/OSKO emails or texts claiming you must pay an "upgrade" or international fee so funds can clear.
• Overpayment ploy: a doctored receipt shows extra cash for shipping; they beg a refund while the real payment doesn’t exist.
• Phishing links to copycat bank/PayID pages to steal logins or one-time codes.
• Spoofed payment notifications and screenshots designed to look legit at a glance.
• Courier/escrow yarns insisting PayID is held until you pay a release fee—it isn’t.

Only trust cleared funds inside your banking app; PayID has no upgrade fees and nobody needs you to send money to receive money.

If something smells off, stop, call your bank using the number on their site, and report it to authorities—better a slow sale than a fast scam.
