In Victoria, you’re on P-plates for up to four years, depending on your age when you get your probationary licence.
If you’re under 21, it’s P1 (red) for 12 months, then P2 (green) for a further 3 years.
If you’re 21 or older, you skip P1 and go straight to P2 for 3 years.
Any suspensions, infringements or late-night heroics can extend the timeline, so drive like you own the car and the road owns you.
Rules do change, so check VicRoads for the latest fine print before you start counting sleeps to your full licence.
