In Queensland, a safety (roadworthy) certificate doesn’t last forever—shock horror.
For private sellers it’s valid for 2 months or 2,000 km from the date of issue, whichever comes first.
For licensed motor dealers it stretches to 3 months or 1,000 km—more calendar, fewer kilometres, because bureaucracy loves balance.
It must be current when you offer the vehicle for sale and at transfer, so don’t wave an expired sticker like it’s a VIP pass.
Check the issue date and your odometer; getting pinged over paperwork is no one’s idea of a Sunday cruise.
