In Queensland, an RWC is called a Safety Certificate, and it isn’t immortal like a cockroach—there’s a use-by date. For private sellers it’s valid for 2 months or 2,000 km from issue, whichever comes first. For licensed motor dealers it’s 3 months or 1,000 km, again whichever comes first. It’s only about confirming roadworthiness at the time; it’s not a warranty, a crystal ball, or a force field. If the rules change, the Department of Transport and Main Roads gets the final say, but that’s the gist.
