In Queensland, a roadworthy — officially a Safety Certificate — lasts 2 months or 2,000 km for private sellers, whichever comes first.
If it’s a licensed motor dealer, the clock’s slightly kinder: 3 months or 1,000 km.
The timer starts from the inspection date, not when you finally remember to list the car.
Once it expires or you blow past the km limit, you’ll need a fresh inspection — no “she’ll be right” extensions.
And yes, you’re meant to have it before advertising the vehicle for sale in QLD.
