how long is the spirit of tasmania Page 2

The Spirit of Tasmania, that glorious maritime behemoth connecting mainland Australia to the island state, stretches a hearty approximately 222 metres. This floating hotel-cum-ferry hauls vehicles and passengers across Bass Strait in about 9 to 11 hours, depending on the weather and mood of the sea gods. With a beam of roughly 30 metres and a gross tonnage tipping about 25,000 tonnes, it’s no dainty little boat. If you’re measuring in football fields, it’s just over two lengthwise. For official specs or booking details, best check the Spirit of Tasmania’s own documentation or site.
