Short version: for 2021–22 you can claim up to 5,000 business kilometres without receipts using the cents-per-kilometre method.
The ATO rate that year was 72 cents per km, so max claim is about $3,600—and no, you can’t then stack fuel, rego or tyres on top.
You don’t need a logbook for this method, but you must have a reasonable basis for your kilometres (think diary notes, rosters, trip records).
If you want to claim above 5,000 km or actual costs, you’ll need the logbook method and proper records.
Not tax advice, obviously—check the ATO or a tax agent if your situation’s curly.
