how to attach number plates australia Page 14

In Australia, attaching number plates is blissfully simple and mildly fiddly, like assembling flat-pack without the panic.

Use the factory mounting points on your bumper or bracket, line up the plate, and secure it with the supplied number plate screws (or anti-theft ones) and washers—front and rear.

Make sure the plate is upright, firmly fixed, and not obscuring any characters, state emblems, or the reflective bits; skip tinted covers, they’re asking for trouble.

If your car lacks a bracket, fit a proper mounting plate rather than improvising with cable ties or hope; adhesive pads are fine only when they hold it rock solid.

Give it a shake test: if it wobbles, tighten it; if it bends, stop.

Regulations vary by state and territory, so confirm specifics with your local authority before you grab the drill.
