Cutting a mirror is equal parts precision and not bleeding on the carpet, so suit up: gloves, long sleeves, eye protection.
First, make sure it’s not tempered—if it is, you’re not cutting it, you’re ordering another; plain mirrored glass only.
Measure twice, mark with a grease pencil, run masking tape along the cut line, and place a straightedge where you want the score.
Oil the glass cutter and make one firm, continuous score—one pass, no do-overs—then snap along the line over a dowel or table edge.
Ease the edges with wet‑dry sandpaper or a diamond stone, clean thoroughly, and congratulate yourself like you just set a lap record in thongs.
If any of that sounded wobbly, a glazier will do it for a modest fee and far fewer swear words.
