Registering a car in Victoria isn’t epic, but there are a few hoops. First, get a current Roadworthy Certificate from a licensed tester and have proof of identity plus your Victorian garaging address ready. If the car is unregistered or has a write-off history, book a VicRoads appointment (and a VIV inspection if required) so they can sight the VIN and paperwork. Pay the registration fee and motor vehicle duty, choose your plates, and relax—TAC injury cover is included in Vic rego, so no separate CTP chase. For a used car that’s already registered, you can usually submit the transfer, RWC and fees online or at a VicRoads Customer Service Centre. Check any mods are legal and compliant, or you’ll be turned away faster than a P-plater at a track day; confirm details with VicRoads before you queue.
