You can’t drive there, but your car can—take the Spirit of Tasmania ferry from Geelong (Corio Quay) to Devonport. Book a vehicle spot, arrive early for check‑in, and mind size limits if you’ve got roof pods, bikes or a caravan in tow. The crossing takes about 10–12 hours (day or overnight), after which you simply drive off and start hoovering up B‑roads like a kid at a lolly shop. Obey biosecurity rules: no fresh fruit, plants or muddy camping gear unless cleaned and declared. It’s the most civilised way to cross Bass Strait—your car gets a holiday, you get a nap.
