Re-registering a repairable write-off in Australia is doable, but it’s not exactly a Sunday stroll down to the servo.

First, confirm it’s a repairable write-off (not a statutory write-off), repair it to ADR standard, and keep photos and receipts like a proud scrapbooker.

Book an identity inspection (WOVI/VIV depending on state), then pass a roadworthy/safety inspection; heavy mods may also need engineering sign-off and sometimes a weighbridge ticket.

With the paperwork in order, front up for rego, pay the fees, and tell your insurer—because surprises are fun at birthdays, not claims time.

Note the write-off marker stays on the PPSR/NEVDIS for life, which can dent resale more than a rogue trolley in a carpark.
