Find a quiet, empty car park and start with the classic trick: put your hand at the bottom of the steering wheel—move your hand the way you want the trailer to go.
Select low gear or creep in reverse, use mirrors wide, and make tiny inputs; big turns invite jack-knifing faster than you can say “bollards”.
If the trailer starts to fold, stop, pull forward slowly to straighten everything, then try again with even smaller steering nudges.
Favour mirror views over the rear camera; cameras can lie about depth, mirrors don’t.
Use a spotter if you can, agree on clear hand signals, and keep kids and pets well out of the arc of disaster.
Remember Aussie roads: keep left, give yourself swing room at corners, and practice with cones before you try it at a ramp full of onlookers with opinions.
