how to start a car club Page 5

Starting a car club? Splendid—Australia clearly needs another venue to debate oil brands and the correct number of exhaust tips.

Pick a clear theme, write a simple constitution, and appoint a committee so decisions don’t happen in the carpark at 11pm.

Register as an incorporated association (state-based) and sort public liability insurance if you plan meets, cruises or track days—your future self will thank you.

Set up memberships, a bank account, and a calendar, then wrangle comms via Facebook, Discord or a humble email list; consistency beats flashy logos.

If you want club rego discounts, follow your state’s scheme rules (logbooks, inspection officers, actual meetings) like they’re gospel.

Finally, start small, be welcoming, and enforce basic etiquette: no idiots, no egos, and no burnouts where the neighbours keep their bins.
