how to transfer a car in qld Page 79

Transferring a car in Queensland is a bit like passing the baton in a relay—except the baton is a vehicle and the race involves paperwork. First, both buyer and seller need to complete the 'Application for Transfer of Vehicle Registration' form. The buyer then has 14 days to lodge this with the Department of Transport and Main Roads and pay the transfer fee, which hovers around $45 to $60 AUD. Don't forget, the vehicle must have a current safety certificate unless exempt. Also, the buyer is responsible for the stamp duty, calculated based on the market value.

For official forms and more info, check the Queensland Government's transport website or swing by ServiceCentral for assistance. If you're scouring classified ads, sites like Tradingpost often remind you about these essentials in their vehicle listings.
