Chasing a hybrid ute in Australia in 2023? Short version: there weren’t any true hybrids on sale that year.
The only electrified ute you could actually buy was the LDV eT60, which is fully electric—great for silence, less great if you forgot the charger. Toyota’s HiLux 48V mild-hybrid arrived from 2024, and Ford’s Ranger Plug‑in Hybrid was announced for around 2025. GWM’s hybrid ute and the F‑150 hybrid didn’t land here in 2023 either. If you want thrift now, stick with a modern diesel; if you want electric bragging rights, wait for the upcoming hybrids or go full EV.
