Short answer: in Australia, hydrogen filling stations are thin on the ground; long answer: they mostly exist as fleet or pilot sites with limited public access.
You’ll find a handful around the ACT, VIC (Altona), QLD (Bulwer Island), NSW (Port Kembla), SA (Tonsley) and WA (Jandakot), but don’t expect a carefree cross-country H2 road trip just yet.
Where available, refuelling is typically at 700 bar and takes about 3–5 minutes, with hydrogen priced roughly $10–$30 per kg and most fuel-cell cars sipping 5–6 kg per fill.
State “Hydrogen Highway” projects (QLD–NSW–VIC) aim to expand corridor stations through the mid‑2020s, but rollouts can slip because, well, infrastructure is hard and budgets are shy.
If you’re running an H2 car here, plan around specific stations, call ahead for access, and have a Plan B that doesn’t involve a tow truck.
