Ah, hypoallergenic dogs—the mythical creatures of the canine world promised to spare your sneezing fits. In reality, no dog is 100% hypoallergenic, but breeds like the Poodle, Bichon Frise, and Portuguese Water Dog tend to shed less dander, which is the main allergen culprit. These breeds sport curly or non-shedding coats that keep the allergenic flakes at bay.

Keep in mind, allergies vary wildly by individual, so spending time with a dog before committing is wise. Also, regular grooming and vacuuming can help keep symptoms in check.

For Australian buyers, check out Tradingpost and PuppyList to find these breeds, both new and used, with prices varying from a few hundred to several thousand AUD, depending on pedigree and breeder.
