The Hyundai iLoad is a tough work mule, but like any van that’s lived a life of ladders and latte runs, it has its foibles. When shopping used, listen for farmyard noises and check the service book like it owes you money.

• 2.5 CRDi: injector and turbo troubles, plus EGR/DPF clogging leading to smoke or limp mode under load.
• Timing-chain rattle on high‑km engines if oil changes were skipped.
• Manuals can munch clutches and synchros; autos need fluid changes and a healthy cooler.
• Sliding door rollers/cables and rear tailgate struts wear out from tradie life.
• Front-end: ball joints, tie rods and wheel bearings can knock or wander.
• A/C condensers and evaporators can leak; weak airflow isn’t unheard of.
• Driveline hums from the centre bearing or diff whine on neglected examples.

Also check for coolant leaks and evidence of regular servicing. A well-serviced iLoad will slog on for ages; a neglected one will audition every warning light it has.
