hyundai santa fe 2013 problems Page 2

The 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe is a dependable family bus, but it’s not entirely free of characterful quirks.

• Steering column “knock” from the MDPS at low speeds; a new coupler or column fix usually calms it down.
• Diesel models can suffer DPF clogging and EGR soot with lots of short trips—give it regular highway runs and use the right oil.
• Air-conditioning evaporator leaks leading to weak cooling and a damp passenger footwell.
• Worn suspension bushings and stabiliser links causing clunks over bumps; irritating rather than ruinous.

Test for smooth steering, cold A/C and a quiet suspension, and check for transmission shudder—software updates and fresh fluid often sort that.
