inside nsw police paddy wagon Page 313

Inside an NSW Police “paddy wagon” you’ll find a secure, hard-wearing compartment built for containment, not comfort.

Think metal or composite cell with fixed bench seats or moulded perches, minimal padding, seatbelts in newer setups, and wipe-clean surfaces that laugh at kebab sauce.

There’s usually internal CCTV, lighting, ventilation, and an intercom, with doors and windows that only open from the outside.

It’s noisy, bright, and deliberately simple so nothing can be turned into a lever or a souvenir.

In short, it’s a ride you definitely don’t want to rate five stars—best admired from the footpath, thanks.
