instant bank transfer australia

In Australia, “instant bank transfer” usually means the New Payments Platform via Osko or PayID, which moves money in seconds, 24/7.

Most big banks support it, though daily limits and first‑time payee checks can slow things down like a ute towing a caravan up Bulli Pass.

Expect near‑instant for verified payees; small delays happen if the bank’s fraud bots get twitchy.

Fees are typically $0, but business accounts and high‑risk transactions may be treated differently.

It’s domestic only—international wires still plod along like a Monday morning.

If your transfer isn’t instant, switch to PayID, split the amount under your bank’s limit, or call the bank and ask why the handbrake’s on.
