Both vinegar and methylated spirits can make glass sparkle, but they shine in different jobs. For routine window cleaning, a diluted white vinegar mix (about 1:1 with water) cuts through mineral spots and dries streak-free. Methylated spirits evaporates fast and obliterates greasy fingerprints, but it’s flammable and pongy—use sparingly with good ventilation. Avoid either on aftermarket window tints or delicate coatings; metho can upset adhesives, and strong vinegar can dull some films. Use a microfibre and the two-cloth method: one to clean, one dry to buff. If the panes look like an oil painting, start with metho, then finish with vinegar for the crystal-clear victory.
