James Dean died on 30 September 1955 near Cholame, California, when his Porsche 550 Spyder, the cheekily nicknamed “Little Bastard,” collided with a Ford driven by Donald Turnupseed.
He was just 24; his passenger, mechanic Rolf Wütherich, survived with serious injuries.
Dean was en route to a race at Salinas, running the car in on public roads because patience clearly wasn’t his strongest suit.
The crash turned a rising star into immortal legend, proving that fate doesn’t care how cool your sunglasses are.
