As thrilling as paperwork gets, the Luxury Car Tax is a federal beast, so the LCT threshold in VIC is exactly the same as everywhere else in Australia.

For 2024–25, the threshold is $91,387 for fuel‑efficient cars and $80,567 for others, and the LCT rate is 33% on the GST-inclusive portion above the threshold.

It’s calculated on the car’s price including dealer delivery and options, but excludes stamp duty, rego and insurance—so don’t confuse “drive-away” with “LCT-able.”

In short: keep the sticker under the threshold or embrace the luxury tax hangover; either way, the ATO doesn’t care what the number plates say.
