leaving a car unused for 6 months Page 6

Leaving your car to gather dust for six months isn’t just a test of patience but a potential test of your wallet’s endurance. When a vehicle sits idle that long, expect battery drain, tyre flat spots, and potential fuel degradation, which can lead to engine hiccups. Battery voltage can drop significantly, so either disconnect it or use a trickle charger. Tyres may develop flat spots—inflating them to the recommended pressure helps, or better yet, move the car occasionally. Fuel can go stale, so topping up the tank or using a stabiliser is wise. Before firing it up again, check brake fluid, oil levels, and give the car a good once-over to avoid any nasty surprises.
