Short version: in Victoria you can’t simply swap halogen headlight globes for LED “conversion” bulbs and call it road legal. To be legit, the whole headlamp assembly must be ADR-compliant for an LED light source and installed to ADR 13/00 requirements (aiming, switching, no disco nonsense). Light colour must be white or yellow; blue-ish boy-racer beams will earn you a defect quicker than you can say “canary.” HIDs need auto-levelling and washers; while LEDs aren’t singled out the same way, glare control and correct aim still apply. Expect fines or a defect notice if you run non-compliant LED globes in halogen housings. The legal upgrade path is an ADR-approved replacement headlamp assembly or quality halogen globes and a proper aim.
