lpg gas cylinder storage australian standards Page 3

Storing LPG gas cylinders in Australia is no joke—there are strict standards to keep you from turning your backyard into a bonfire. According to Australian Standard AS/NZS 1596, cylinders must be stored upright, away from ignition sources, and in a well-ventilated area to prevent gas build-up. Don't even think about storing them indoors or near drains where leaks could pool.

Key points:

• Store cylinders upright and secure to prevent tipping.
• Keep at least 3 meters away from any building openings.
• No smoking or open flames within 3 meters.
• Use approved storage cages or enclosures if required.
