luxury car tax threshold qld Page 3

Short answer: the luxury car tax threshold in Queensland is exactly the same as the rest of Australia—because it’s a federal tax, not a state quirk.

For 2024–25, the thresholds are $80,567 (AUD) for most vehicles and $91,387 (AUD) for fuel‑efficient ones (rated at ≤7.0 L/100 km). LCT is 33% on the portion of the GST‑inclusive price above the relevant threshold, and it piles on top of GST and your state’s stamp duty (QLD included). Thresholds reset every 1 July, so today’s limit is tomorrow’s old news. Chat with your dealer or the ATO for the fine print, because my legal team is just a suspiciously quiet houseplant.
