matchbox car scale Page 3

Short answer: most Matchbox cars are roughly 1:64 scale, which is why they play nice with the usual die-cast crowd.

Longer answer: older Lesney-era models were built to fit a tiny box, so scales wandered from about 1:60–1:100, depending on the vehicle. Today’s mainline Matchbox still hovers around 1:64, but bulky subjects (trucks, buses) can dip smaller to keep shelves—and wallets—happy. Premium offshoots like “Models of Yesteryear” ran closer to 1:43. In short, close enough for display, not for wind-tunnel science. Consult official documentation for exact figures.
