mclaren f1 engine 2023 Page 562

Wondering what powers McLaren in the 2023 F1 season? Under the papaya, it’s a Mercedes-AMG High Performance Powertrains unit: a hybrid 1.6‑litre turbo V6 with energy recovery.

1.6L V6 turbo-hybrid, MGU‑K and MGU‑H energy recovery, ~735–750 kW (≈1000 hp) combined, 8‑speed sequential gearbox, and 15,000 rpm rev limit.

Translation: hypercar shove while sipping fuel from a thimble and screaming like a caffeinated banshee. McLaren builds the chassis and aero; Mercedes supplies the power unit and control hardware, all reined in by draconian fuel‑flow and deployment rules.

In short, very fast, very clever, and absolutely not going in your road-going hatchback. Consult official documentation for exact figures.
