melbourne pink lake Page 202

Ah, the elusive pink lake near Melbourne—it's not exactly a permanent fixture in the Aussie landscape. The most famous pink lakes are usually found in Western Australia, thanks to the salt-loving algae and bacteria that put on a rosy show. Near Melbourne, any pinkish tinge is often seasonal and fleeting, influenced by salt concentration, temperature, and sunlight.

If you’re chasing that perfect Instagram shot, keep an eye on smaller salt lakes or lagoons during the hotter months. Just remember, these natural wonders are delicate ecosystems, so tread lightly. For the latest sightings and advice, locals sometimes share updates on community forums or even Tradingpost.
