mg battery Page 3

Ah, the MG battery—probably not the most glamorous topic, but absolutely vital unless you fancy pushing your car everywhere. MG’s electric and hybrid models typically use lithium-ion batteries, with capacities ranging from around 10 kWh to 19 kWh for plug-in hybrids, and much larger packs for full EVs like the MG ZS EV at about 44.5 kWh. These batteries offer respectable ranges, roughly 320-400 km on a single charge for the EVs, depending on model and conditions.

Battery life generally spans 8-10 years or around 160,000 km, but expect degradation over time—MG batteries aren’t immune to the usual suspects: heat, deep discharges, and rapid charging. Replacement costs can be a wallet-buster, often running into thousands of AUD, so second-hand MGs with a healthy battery are gold—check places like Tradingpost or CarShowroom for relevant listings.
