Mobile speed cameras in Victoria roam more than a kelpie off-lead. They’re typically parked roadside in marked or unmarked vehicles, snapping anyone who drifts over the posted limit. Locations aren’t announced in real time, and the enforcement threshold isn’t published—so gambling on “tolerance” is like betting your licence on a coin toss. They can operate any time, day or night, across metro and regional VIC. Fines and demerit points scale with how far over you go, and there’s no double-demerit scheme here like in some other states. Best strategy? Drive to the sign, not your speedo’s optimism, and you’ll keep both your cash and your dignity.
