most capable 4x4 australia Page 528

Asking for "the most capable 4x4 in Australia" is like asking which ute cooks the best snag—depends on terrain and patience.

Toyota LandCruiser 70 Series

• Pros: Live axles, low-range, factory lockers available, and an aftermarket bigger than the Nullarbor.
• Cons: Medieval ergonomics, pricey, and not much fun on the commute.

Jeep Wrangler Rubicon

• Pros: Front/rear lockers, sway-bar disconnect, short overhangs—proper rock-crawler kit.
• Cons: Smaller payload and touring range; road manners are “characterful.”

Pick based on use: remote touring and payload lean Toyota; technical trails and play days favour the Jeep.
