You’re after the crown jewels of tiny cars, then: the headline act is the 1969 pink rear-loading Volkswagen Beach Bomb prototype, which has fetched well over AUD 200,000. Beyond that, the priciest pieces are usually early Redline-era rarities (circa 1968–72): prototypes, oddball colour runs, over-chrome employee promos, and ultra-low production castings. Condition is king—mint, on-card, and original paint sends values into orbit; scuffed survivors are charming but not retirement plans. Prices also hinge on provenance and current hype, so check recent auction comps before you mortgage the budgie. For most collectors, the "valuable" end still lives in the low-thousands in AUD; six-figure cars are unicorn-level rare.
