next-gen ranger problems australia Page 4

The next-gen Ranger is a cracking ute, but like any fresh model it arrived with a few gremlins—because of course it did. Most are annoyances rather than apocalypses, and many were sorted with software updates or straightforward warranty fixes.

• Occasional harsh or flaring shifts from the 10-speed auto at low speeds, usually improved by transmission control module updates.
• SYNC 4A glitches (screen reboots, camera lag, wireless CarPlay dropouts) that tended to calm down after software patches.
• DPF/EGR sensor faults on some 2.0 Bi‑Turbo diesels, especially with frequent short trips, triggering warnings or limp mode.
• Minor oil or coolant seepage reported on some V6 diesels (clamps/seals), generally handled under warranty.

Before you buy, check recall status on Product Safety Australia, confirm updates in the service history, and take a long test drive—towing included if that’s your jam. Shopping on Tradingpost? Look for listings that note completed recalls and software updates.
