The 2014 Nissan Pulsar is the automotive equivalent of a sensible pair of slacks: roomy, comfy, and guaranteed not to frighten the neighbours. The cabin is big for the class and the sedan’s boot is properly generous (around 510 L), making family duty a doddle. The 1.8L petrol is adequate rather than exciting, and the CVT prefers smooth cruising to heroic overtakes; the rarer SSS 1.6 turbo finally brings some fizz. Ride comfort is a strong suit, though the handling’s more tea-and-biscuits than trailblazing. Economy is decent, safety is solid (five stars in its day), and resale is friendly to buyers. Watch for CVT shudder, tired interior plastics, and the odd A/C gremlin, then enjoy cheap, honest motoring without the fanfare.
