nsw fuel price cycle Page 378

The NSW fuel price cycle is a saw-tooth routine where unleaded spikes sharply, then drifts down for weeks before leaping again. In Sydney and other big centres it typically runs over several weeks (often around a month or more), driven by retailer competition and margin tactics, not by any law. Regional towns may barely show a cycle, and diesel usually doesn’t follow a neat pattern at all. The smart play is to buy while prices are falling and closer to the bottom of the cycle, not right after a spike. Use tools like NSW FuelCheck to compare nearby prices and time your fill. Annoying, yes—but beatable if you watch the trend rather than the weekday myths.
