In New South Wales, the legal age to obtain a learner's permit is 16 years. After holding the learner licence for at least 12 months and completing the required supervised driving hours, you can apply for a provisional P1 licence at 17 years. P1 drivers must hold this licence for a minimum of 12 months before progressing to P2, and then eventually to a full licence at around 20 years. Remember, these rules are designed to keep the roads a tad safer, so don’t rush it and end up on the wrong side of a cop’s notebook. For the most current info, check official NSW Roads and Maritime Services documentation.
