number plate transfer qld Page 16

Transferring a number plate in Queensland is a bit like passing on a family heirloom—except with more paperwork and less sentimentality. You can transfer personalised or general number plates from one vehicle to another, provided both vehicles are registered in Queensland. The process involves submitting a transfer application through the Department of Transport and Main Roads, paying a fee (which varies depending on the plate type), and ensuring all vehicles are roadworthy. Don't forget, plates can only be transferred if they're not already assigned to another vehicle, and some transfers require the consent of the current plate holder.

For used vehicles, this is a handy way to keep your cherished plate without splurging on a new one. Check Tradingpost or CarShowroom for vehicles with plates available for transfer and ServiceCentral for assistance with the process.
